Nigerian Ports Consultative Council Holds Strategic Quarterly Meeting at FOT, Onne Port

Ololuka, Traffic Manager Abolade Task Stakeholders to Embrace Federal Government’s E-Call-Up, National Single Window Initiatives

The Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC) has held its strategic quarterly meeting at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), Onne Port, in Rivers State — reaffirming the Council’s commitment to a more efficient, transparent and digitally driven Nigerian port system.

The meeting, which took place on 1 September 2026, focused on the gains and benefits of the Electronic Call-Up System (E-Call-Up), the National Single Window (NSW) initiative and the wider digitalisation of port operations. Resource persons at the session also examined practical measures to resolve traffic challenges and other operational matters peculiar to Onne Port.

Presiding over the meeting, the Onne Branch Chairman, Chief Godwin Ololuka, charged stakeholders to fully embrace the Federal Government’s Electronic Call-Up System and National Single Window initiative, stressing the Council’s continued advocacy for reforms that enhance efficiency and competitiveness across the nation’s ports.

Lending his voice, the Traffic Manager, Abolade, urged stakeholders to key into the initiatives for smoother port operations.

The Electronic Call-Up System and the National Single Window are among the Federal Government’s flagship maritime reforms, aimed at automating port access, eliminating manual bottlenecks, curbing traffic gridlock and positioning Nigeria’s ports for greater competitiveness within the West and Central African sub-region.

In attendance were terminal operators, shipping lines, freight forwarders, government agencies, NPCC members and other stakeholders. The quarterly meeting forms part of the NPCC’s continuing engagement with port stakeholders across its zones, providing a structured platform for dialogue between government regulators and port users in line with the Council’s advocacy, advisory and consultative mandate.
